WHO IS HECATE...
Hecate or Hekate (pronounced, eck - AA - tee) is a Greek Goddess who is capable of both good and evil. She is mostly associated with magic, the moon, witchcraft, doorways, crossroads, and creatures of the night such as hell-hounds and ghosts. She is most commonly depicted with three faces, as seen in the picture of the ancient statue, and carries four main symbols, torches, keys, dagger, and rope.
The Torches are to remind of her connection with the night and her role as the guardian of the crossroads where she would light the way for those crossing between realms.
The Dagger is a symbol of judgement and power and was most commonly used as a ritual tool on wiccan altars.
The Key is the key to the underworld. She uses this key to open the doors to the underworld and help guide souls to this realm.
The Rope is said to symbolize an umbilical cord to represent birth.
There are other symbols associated with the Goddess Hecate that many consider sacred to her including black she dogs (hell-hounds), serpents (snake), hecate's wheel (medallion), and poisonous plants (yew).
